Scripture:
You have kept count of my tossings; put my tears in your bottle. Are they not in your book? Then my enemies will turn back in the day when I call. This I know, that God is for me. Psalms 56:8-9 ESV Application: "All day long" enemies attack. But God keeps track of their evil ways and He will turn them around. God also keeps track of the number of tears we shed, and the number of times we toss in bed. God really cares about our feelings and our fears. If we don't know anything else, we must know and remember that God cares for us and will not ever desert us when our enemies plan against us. Prayer: God, we thank You for caring for us when enemies try to destroy us. We really need the protection and comfort of Your care. Amen. Scripture:
'Whatever you do, work at it with all your heart, as working for the Lord, not for human masters, since you know that you will receive an inheritance from the Lord as a reward. It is the Lord Christ you are serving. Anyone who does wrong will be repaid for their wrongs, and there is no favoritism.' Colossians 3:23-25 Application: This world isn't fair. There is no real justice in the world. There is partiality. When there is peace, it's almost an accident. This is the natural state of mankind. But God has justice. Only God will make things right. Those who believe they are getting away with being unjust will be repaid, but not by us. God will see to it that they are repaid. Meanwhile, what we are to do is to work. Work for God. Do as He instructs. We serve no one but Him. Prayer: Father, take away the oppression from Your children, please. Deliver the evildoers to their punishment. Help us work to honor You, and direct us where we can make things better for those who are treated unfairly. Amen. Scripture: 'Then Jesus told him, “Because you have seen me, you have believed; blessed are those who have not seen and yet have believed.” ' John 20:29 (NIV) "Immediately the boy’s father exclaimed, “I do believe; help me overcome my unbelief!” Mark 9:24 (NIV) Application: Among the so-called seven enemies of Israel were the clay-dwelling Girgashites, who built their foundations of human logic and things they could actually experience with their bodily senses. A lot like "Doubting Thomas" of John 20:24-29 (and maybe a whole lot like many of us, too). True faith and freedom comes after we've escaped traditional belief in only the observable things and allow ourselves to be instructed, comforted, and encouraged by the Spirit of the Lord, Christ Jesus. Prayer: Father God, as the dad pleaded in Mark 9:24, help us defeat unbelief. Show us how Your Spirit works daily in our lives. Amen. |
